Mainstreet Australia is the only group in Victoria aiming to act in the interests of traditional centres. Through information nights, newsletters, seminars, conferences and resources we are working to assist you and your centre. We are your voice, advocating on your behalf to Government.
 
We are non-profit and rely on your membership to continue the important work of idea sharing, contacts, and opportunities for improving our traditional shopping centres. Your membership will benefit your trader group, your organisation, your centre manager, and most importantly, your traditional strip centre.

Member Benefits

  • A regular newsletter which addresses the specific interests of Mainstreet Australia members and keeps you up to date with seminars, conferences, and other opportunities available for small business.
  • Seminars and workshops tailored to the needs of small business and government in traditional shopping centres and geared to pass on valuable information to keep you up to date.
  • Advocacy and representation to government on all issues relevant to traditional community shopping and business centres.
  • Technical assistance and advice on retailing trends, marketing and promotional ideas and approaches, special funding schemes, media and community relations, and training programs.
  • Contacts who have worked with traditional shopping centres on revitalisation plans and capital works programs.
  • Social networking opportunities to provide an opportunity for you to meet and mix with others involved in traditional shopping centres.
  • Access to the Mainstreet Australia web site, and the member’s only knowledge base and resource centre.
 
Mainstreet Australia is committed to ensuring that members receive value for money from their membership. One of the major benefits of membership is access to knowledge and information - through our seminars, events and newsletters.

As a result, many parts of this website are restricted only to current Mainstreet Australia members. Some of the items available to members include:
  • Downloadable version of the latest and back issues of our member newsletter
  • Online articles, fact sheets, resources and toolkits
  • Member discussion forum and knowledge sharing

We recognise that people outside of Victoria may not be able to attend all our functions or take advantage of all the benefits that Mainstreet provides. For this reason we have created an Affiliate Membership category, with reduced membership fees.
 
This provides opportunity for anyone throughout Australia and beyond to enjoy the benefits membership provides and to help us promote the value and potential of Town Centres and High Streets everywhere.  The greater and more diverse the membership of Mainstreet Australia becomes the more effective it can:
  • Represent the interests of all people and organisations working in, and with, the town centres, high streets and main streets that sustain community, economic and social development.
  • Communicate with Sponsors and Government for funds, resources and grants to support your industry.
  • Measure and report on the successes and outcomes of what Town Centre, Mainstreet and Place Management programs do.
  • Liaise with the media to effectively communicate the benefits of what Town centre, Mainstreet and Place Management programs do.
  • Link with what is happening all over the World in the area of Mainstreet and bring that information to you.
  • Organise training, education, support programs and events that will directly benefit you and the industry you work in.
